We have so much going on in October and we'll hope you'll join us!
We also have a call out for performers! SEEKING PERFORMERS FOR CABARET ABOUT HEALTHCARE Theater in Asylum is seeking volunteer performers for a three short pieces in our upcoming Healthcare Cabaret. One will be a musical number featuring all the democratic candidates for presidents' names; the second will be a clown-type show about the differences in healthcare systems being proposed; and the third will be a scene with candidate impersonations using verbatim language from the televised healthcare debates. The cabaret is Sunday, October 20 and each piece will have one rehearsal prior. No one (including those in Theater in Asylum) is being paid. Any profit, if there is any, will go towards further Debates projects. More information about the cabaret may be found at https://www.thedebates2020.com/healthcare-cabaret.html. Any interested performers should email Paul Bedard ASAP at paul [at] theaterinasylum.com. All ages, races, and genders are encouraged to apply! Hope to see you soon!

Yes, it's true. We do indeed have elections every 5 minutes in New York. Next up is just a week and a half away. We have a Primary Election on Tuesday, June 25, 2019! Most people will have judges to vote on, some will have county committee elections, and if you're a Democrat in Queens you have an exciting District Attorney primary. You can preview your ballot (and find your polling site) here. We also have lots of links and resources on Theater in Asylum's voter guide here. Polls will be open from 6am to 9pm. If you will be out of town, you can request an absentee ballot here, just do it before Tuesday 6/18 via mail or Monday 6/24 in person. Not sure how to research your candidates? Our voter guide has lots of helpful links here. We also have good luck getting the names of the candidates and then googling their last names with your borough. Trying to google the race itself without the names makes it way more difficult to find stuff. The debates are starting! It'll be like the Kennedy / Nixon debate but with 10x the number of candidates. There are so many, it's split across two nights (Wednesday 6/26 and Thursday 6/27). Theater in Asylum is hosting watch parties at The Gray Mare. Join us for what is sure to be a wild couple nights (remember Jim Webb?). Throw us a five?Between now and the New York primary in Spring 2020, we're planning to host dozens of watch parties, political analysis meetings, and scripting sessions. We're putting together cabarets and, eventually, a full-length show about the debates. If you're able to throw us a five (or more!) we would be so appreciative. Also, for a $5 donation per month, you can be a delegate! Thank you and happy voting!! Our next cabaret will be June 6 at The Episcopal Actor's Guild. Join us for a night of experiments, theater and music, as well as great discussion. Get your tickets here. The DNC has announced the first debates! Due to the large number of candidates, it'll be split into two nights. We'll be hosting watch parties at The Gray Mare in the East Village. Join us and RSVP on Facebook.
Join us, party, and behold the avalanche of Democratic candidates with us! There'll be music, theater, poetry, a cash bar, and, who knows, dancing?! Featuring guest performances by:
And candidate introduction performances by Theater in Asylum:
Don't miss this political theater extravaganza! Learn more and buy tickets here. Join us for a viewing party of the debate between Andrew Cuomo and Cynthia Nixon, who are competing in the Democratic Primary for New York Governor. We're back at the 12th Street Ale House with great people, great beer, and a thrilling debate. WATCH PARTY
